Based in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park the Yorkshire Clay Company was founded in 2023 by Edd & Poppy Morrison after purchasing the renowned business Kingfisher Simulated Game. Yorkshire Clay Company provides its clients the very best in Simulated Game shooting in North Yorkshire, offering the opportunity to shoot a vast array of different drives over both Swinithwaite & Bolton Estates.

We shoot on named drives that have been tailor made for driven game shooting over the past 30+ years. The rugged landscape and cliff edges allow the team at Yorkshire Clay Company to produce what we think are some of the most sporting clays available - if you don’t believe us, come and try it out!

YORKSHIRE CLAY COMPANY PACKAGES

Your day will be organised in the same way as our traditional game days, with first class hospitality and fantastic sport being at the forefront of what we do… You will also be shooting in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, with its stunning scenery and breathtaking views as a backdrop on both sites.

We offer a range of different days to suit each client’s specific needs, from simulated driven grouse days to traditional simulated game days using named partridge/pheasant drives with some of the highest clays to test even the very best of shots! We offer packages with full hospitality and also packages with "no frills" beers and pies on the go if your more interested in the shooting and not the lunch!

SWINITHWAITE ESTATE

Swinithwaite Estate is the gateway to Wensleydale and the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Throughout the game shooting season the Estate hosts incredible pheasant & partridge drives, using its rolling Dales and gnarly cliff edges to produce some of the most diverse shooting in the North of England. Our Simulated Game days at Swinithwaite are no different and are set up at the top of Penn Hill. BOLTON QUARRY

Bolton Quarry is next to the well known Bolton Gyhll Shoot. This location makes use of a derelict limestone quarry and allows guests to spend all day on foot, walking from drive to drive. We have some great drives off huge cliffs and sloping banks and have also created four driven grouse drives for teams wanting to experience a full day of simulated grouse before they head onto the Moors! We have a wooden shoot lodge on site where our hospitality takes place with elevenses over a serious view of Wensleydale at it’s finest.

We have all the gear and are more than happy to travel to you. As long as you have decent road/track access we can bring our bespoke Promatic traps to you for a private day all to yourselves, hassle free!

Frequently Asked Questions

Yorkshire Clay Company will put on a full day of Simulated Game Shooting for you and your guests. You will shoot at between 3,000 and 4,000 clays on four different drives and enjoy first class hospitality throughout your experience. Our team will be with you all day to make sure that it all runs smoothly and that everyone is looked after properly.

Cartridges: £90 per 250 cartridges - Shotgun Hire: £120/Gun per day - Loaders: £100/person per day - Qualified Instructors: £350/person per day

We would always recommend guests bring their own safety glasses and ear protection, however we provide branded caps for all the guests and have safety glasses & ear protection if required.

This all depends on the weather… We always recommend guests to wear outdoor clothing, sturdy footwear as we shoot over uneven ground and always pack a waterproof jacket (just in case).

For your days at Swinithwaite (April to June) you can walk between drives or you can use your own 4x4 transport to get from drive to drive for the day. For your days at Bolton Quarry (July to October) you will walk all day, so there is no 4x4 transport needed to get from drive to drive for the day.

There are plenty of very good pubs, hotels and private accommodation all within a 5 to 15 minutes from both shooting areas. The Yorkshire Clay Company can arrange accommodation for you, just let us know in advance.

Please be honest with us and we will tailor our drives around your teams abilities. We can also arrange for local experienced loaders and instructors to look after inexperienced guns for the day at an extra cost.

We are looking at providing single peg days where you can shoot with a mixed team of like minded guests, just let us know and we can try to build a team around you.

When handling any firearm in the UK it is your legal obligation to have a valid certificate for that firearm. If you do not have a valid shotgun certificate you should stand with someone who has a valid shotgun certificate for the day. We would recommend an instructor or experienced minder/loader for the day at an extra cost, which we can organise.

We expect all guests who are shooting to have their own public liability insurance which can be easily purchased online. Please ask the team and we can help you.
